“The How I Work series asks heroes, experts, and flat-out productive people to share their shortcuts, workspaces, routines, and more.”
Here’s How I Work:
Location: Central Coast, NSW, Australia
Current gig: Digital Marketing Apprentice at PARADOX
Mobile device: Motorola Moto G (2nd Gen)
Current computer: Custom desktop — i5, GTX 560ti, Win 7. It’s ~5 years old and on its last legs
One word that best describes how you work: Purposefully
What apps/software/tools can’t you live without?
WordPress for website building, gmail and Google calendar for organisation, LastPass for work login credentials, Google Sheets and Docs for planning lead funnels and organising ideas. The note taking app on my phone and tablet which allows me to capture fleeting thoughts.
What’s your workspace like?
My bedroom — not the greatest place for productivity. But hey, it’s tidy and gets the job done.
What’s your best time-saving trick?
Video Speed Controller to blast through video content quicker. Working on tasks until I’m finished (unless necessary).
What’s your favorite to-do list manager?
Notepad. There’s no risk of distraction. Plus there’s no risk a bunch of tasks will suddenly come in (unlike Wrike).
Besides your phone and computer, what gadget can’t you live without?
My portable battery packs for my phone and tablet.
What everyday thing are you better at than anyone else?
Being able to quickly discern what is valuable and worth my time and what isn’t.
What are you currently reading?
The Church and the Market — Tom Woods
The War of Art — Steven Pressfield
What do you listen to while you work?
Silence, occasional instrumental soundtracks but lyrics are way too distracting.
Are you more of an introvert or an extrovert?
I usually get 95-100% introvert in those personality tests. When I’m around the right people I swing into extrovert territory though.
What’s your sleep routine like?
Definite night owl, I can only get into a flow state after midnight. I’m currently trying to fix my sleep pattern to normal hours although I have no compelling reason to do so.
Fill in the blank: I’d love to see ______ answer these same questions.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Get shit done and learn to create value for others. Anything the Praxis team write about is pure gold.
